| HOME-GROWN PRIDE The Tax Shack, Inc is a small, family-owned and operated business. It was started by my parents, John and Kathy, in 1996. Before that, my mother was doing taxes out of our home. It's no wonder that I have followed in their footsteps and taken over the family business. We like keeping it all in the family and even though my parents are semi-retired now, I still get them back in to work during tax season. Cheap labor is hard to find after all. The Tax Shack is a casual place to come have your taxes done. We don't wear stuffy suits and we don't look down at you over our glasses. We don't require appointments and we have our clients drop their taxes off or mail them in rather than do them while they sit in front of us. This way everybody is less intimidated and less mistakes are made because we have time to be thorough and ask all of the right questions. We are located in the small town of Gig Harbor, Washington, but we have clients from all over the country. Our clients began as just our friends and our neighbors and slowly expanded. Everyone who comes to us gets treated as our friend or our neighbor because we're still a small business and we like to stay small-town and friendly. As our clients have moved away, we've made every effort to work with them by phone, fax, and e-mail. Now we have clients across the country that we have never met because they were referred by people who used to live here. Thanks to technology, we are more than willing to accommodate anyone who seeks our services, no matter how far away in the U.S. they may be. We may not be CPA's, but we have taken the appropriate courses and we participate in continuing education every year. We are registered with the IRS as is required by the Internal Revenue Service and fully intend to comply with the new testing and licensing requirements. We keep up on all of the tax law changes and belong to organizations that allow us access to wonderful resources. So you get the same work from us that you would from a CPA, but at half the price.
